Project Playground

We have been fundraising to replace the schools very old playgr0unds (some areas are 50 years old!).  We believe that it is the pupils right to have access to suitable surfaces in order to be safe and provide a stimulating environment where they can develop their social, physical, creative and problem-solving skills whilst supporting their mental health.

This will incorporate the main playground and the back sports playground.  We also wish to add sporting equipment, seating and a sensory play area.

Mrs. Muncaster gathered designs and quotes which were shared with a consultation.  The pupils were asked for their input and have offered some suggestions as to what they would like to see in the new spaces (although a swimming pool may be a bit of a stretch!).

Over the last two years, Friends of Tithe Barn have raised and donated £33,000 to Project Playground which has enabled all of the groundwork to be completed and both the top and bottom playground to be resurfaced making them safer and more enjoyable for our children.  The top playground has also had markings and equipment installed.

The final phase for now will be the marking of the bottom playground.  The school council are currently gathering ideas from all of the years and we hope to have the markings installed by the end of 2023.
